Wizkid and Seyi Shay is no strange name in Nigeria music industry. The duo has individual reached stardom and success through hard work and perseverance. Sometime last year Seyi Shay released a single entitled Crazy which featured stay boy, Wizkid. The song raised many speculations, as many thought the two shared a romantic relationship. In a recent interview with Y!Naija, she disclosed that no romantic feelings ever existed between Wizkid and her. However, she claims the only relationship between them is platonic friendship which could be misjudged as something else becaue they are playful, naughty and rebellious. In her words:

“Wizkid and I are like this naughty, rebellious bunch of kids. Very playful and very good friends. He has been there for me from the day I met him. He has supported me. We have sung on stage together. He has given me music for free. Crazy video was just purely entertainment. Shock factor and nothing else.”

The launch of Seyi Shay’s debut album “Seyi or Shay” was quite a fun event, held on Friday November 13th at the Grand Ballroom of the Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos. The event was star-studded as several of Nigeria’s top celebrities stepped out to celebrate with Seyi Shay. Banky W, Asa, Sound Sultan, Waje, Omawumi, Iyanya, Ubi Franklin, Fade Ogunro, Cynthia Morgan, Chidinma, Cobhams Asuquo, Sika Osei, Illrhymz, Jesse Jagz, Bolanle Olukanni, Toke Makinwa, Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Latasha Ngwube, Emmanuel Ikubese, Omalicha, Yvonne ‘Vixen’ Ekwere, Marcy Dolapo Oni, Lilian Afegbai, Ehiz, Eva, Boj, Niyola, Tunde Demuren and many more were spotted at the event.

 Seyi Shay wowed the audience with track after track off her new album while dressed in a gorgeous white skirt suit by the Okunoren Twins and then later changed into a white jumpsuit. The night was closed out by Banky W and Iyanya who joined Seyi Shay on stage for a performance of the remix of her hit song “Right Now”.

Seyi Shay has revealed that her debut album titled “Seyi Or Shay” would be released on November 13, 2015. The Crazy singer said in a recent interview thus; “I’m working on my album titled “Seyi or Shay’, and there is a story behind that.” the singer said. “It will be out on November 13 by God’s grace. There will be a listening session at the Eko Hotel & Suites.”

In a recent interview, Nigerian songstress Seyi Shay has explained how Sound Sultan and his wife have been her back bone ever since she returned to Nigeria in 2012. According to the singer, she never lived with her father because she was from a polygamous family, but lived with her mom all her life, who is now sadly late, and that is why she sees Sultan as the father she never had because he has been a father figure to her. She also praised Flytime boss, Cecil Hammonds for giving her a ladder to climb. Hear her; Sound Sultan is like my dad really, the dad I never had. He is my mentor, he’s also my song writer; he and his wife are like my mum and dad. It’s a relationship that’s indescribable, God just used him as a vessel to really expose me. I used to go round with Naija Ninjas and Radio tours and he kept introducing me as his protégé. Cecil also used to tell people to put me on their shows that I’m good. Between the two of them, I flourished a lot.

Nigerian singer Seyi Shay has signed a global recording contract with notable record label Island Universal Records, her reps say. The signing is said to have taken place in London at the Universal Offices in South Kensington .
