65-year-old mother of a Port Harcourt, Rivers State based Journalist,
Deaconess Rose Benson has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.
The son, who is the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Port Harcourt Spectator Newspaper, Mr Parry Benson, said his mother was abducted, yesterday in Baen community, Khana Local Government Area of the state.
“My bother came out to know who drove into our compound, he saw three people, including a lady and the driver, who was still behind the steering. One of them came out of the car, greeted my brother and asked him if he was afraid,” he said.
“His
response was negative, the man went back to the booth of the car. They
came as if he was bringing out something and immediately pointed a gun
at my brother. He suspected danger and ran. But before he could call the
attention of the villagers, they (the hoodlums) left (kidnapped) with
my mum. She is still with them as I speak with you.
“My mother is 65 years old. She is a deaconess. She is quiet and very peaceful. Why would anyone want to kidnap her?” he queried.
Benson said he had reported the matter to the Police and Department of State Security, DSS, adding that the kidnappers had not called for ransom.
