Justice Oputa,Charlie Boy's Father Dies at 96

Former Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and head of the famous “Oputa Panel” Justice Chukwudifu Oputa 96 has passed away today in Abuja.Justice Charles Oputa, popularly known for his role in Human rights investigation commission which was later nicknamed, Oputa Panel, was confirmed dead in a statement issued by his son, Charles Çharly boy’ Oputa in Abuja.

“The Family of Justice Chukwudifu Oputa wishes to announce the passing to glory of the eminent jurist and a retired Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria at the age of 96 years. He passed on peacefully on Sunday afternoon, May 4, 2014, after recovering from a brief illness. Funeral announcements will soon be released by the family”.
Oputa was earlier rushed to the hospital in Owerri on February 14 after he suffered a partial stroke. He was later moved to Abuja where he had been receiving special treatment while living with his son before returning to his hometown and back.
He is survived by a Son and three grandchildren.
