FIFA names Keshi best African coach, 14th in the World

Nigeria Super Eagles Coach, Stephen Keshi, has been ranked the number one coach in Africa and 14th in the world.He is followed closely at number two by his West African counterpart and former Ghanaian coach, Kwesi Appiah.Keshi, who also won the Confederation of African Football, CAF, best coach of the year in 2013, has coached the national teams of Mali, Togo and, currently, Nigeria.
He coached the Super Eagles to winning the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations after a 19-year trophy drought. He also led the team to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil where it was knocked out by France in the round of 16.
Keshi, who is yet to sign a new contract with the Nigeria Football Federation, was a former Super Eagles defender in his playing days. He is one of only two people, along with Egypt’s Mahmoud El-Gohary, who has won the Africa Cup of Nations as a player and then a coach.
The rating was made by the ‘Football Coach World Ranking’ on Friday afternoon.In the world rating, the current German National Coach, Joachim Low, placed at number one followed by the Spain’s head coach, Vicente Del Bosque, whose team had a poor outing at the World Cup in Brazil.
