The football governing body of the west African side has inked a two-year deal with the 54-year-old, the GFA announced Thursday
Ex-Chelsea boss Avram Grant has agreed a two-year deal with Ghana effective December 1, 2014 to 28 February 2017.
The Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi told the media Thursday the Israeli’s target “is to do well at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations and win the 2017 Nations Cup.” The continent's flagship football tournament kicks off January 18 to February 7 in Equatorial Guinea.
The football governing body settled on the former Portsmouth manager as the next Black Stars coach after an interview in October.
The FA said Grant impressed them with his plans for the African side coupled with his strong record. Nyantakyi confirmed that Kwesi Appiah’s heir is keen on developing local expertise hence his decision to keep care-taker coach Maxwell Konadu as his deputy. Ghana parted ways with Appiah on September 12 after playing two 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. He failed to lead the Black Stars to go beyond the group stages of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil amidst a player revolt which led to the expulsion of two midfielders – Sulley Muntari and Kevin-Prince Boateng - from the camp.
