Nigeria Women’s senior team climbed up to the 32nd position in the latest FIFA rankings, following their triumph at the 2014 CAF African Women Championship.
The Super Falcons beat Cameroon 2-0 in the final, to clinch the title for a record ninth time. The Edwin Okon-led ladies accumulated a total of 1,633 points from September till date and remains the best team in Africa, ahead of the Women’s World Cup next year in Canada.
Ghana remain the second best on the continent with 1,459 points in 50th position, while the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon dropped one spot to 52nd in the world.Overall, Germany are now number one in the world, followed by the USA, France, Japan and Sweden.
