For the fourth year in a row, Ivorian professional footballer Gnégnéri Yaya Touré has won the award for ‘African Footballer of the Year’ at the 2014 edition of the prestigious GLO-CAF Awards. The Manchester City FC midfielder ousted the likes of Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Nigerian goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama (who came in second and third respectively) to win the coveted prize which held at a prestigious event on Thursday, January 8, 2014 in Lagos Nigeria.
On winning the award, Touré expressed himself as being very happy and went on to commend Enyeama and Aubemayang. Touré, 31, has now matched Cameroonian striker, Samuel Etoó’s record who has also won the award four times (2003, 2004, 2005, 2010).Reacting to his lost, Vincent took to his instagram page almost immediately and wrote :

“A very big thank you to my #SUPER GOD for bringing me this far, without HIM, I wouldn't have been here. Thank you to my sweet wife and my DIAMOND.
