Olivier Giroud has hit back at Thierry Henry after the Arsenal legend said the Gunners could not win the title with him as their main striker.
Henry said Arsene Wenger would need to sign four new players if they were to challenge Chelsea for the title next season, and that Giroud would need replacing.
Giroud has scored 14 Premier League goals this term in just 26 appearances, but has been accused of going 'missing' during the big games.
Following Arsenal's goalless draw with the new champions, Henry said: "I think Giroud is doing extremely well but can you win the league with him? I wouldn't think so."
The current Gunners striker has retaliated, telling L'Equipe: "I heard he was saying too many dull things. That was a bomb and it had its desired effect." Wenger agrees with Giroud that his squad doesn't need a complete overhaul, despite the comments from the man who scored 226 goals under his tutelage. "He's paid for that," Wenger said. 'We know all the system now of the modern media, especially on TV. I know how it works. They push you to be controversial because they give you a lot of money."
