Dozens may have died in Damaturu, the Yobe state capital, as a bomb blast rocked a crowded commercial area on Saturday, witnesses said. Sources gathered that dozens of persons were either killed or injured as a result of the blast.
A witness said the blast, which occurred at about 11a.m., left many dismembered human parts littering the scene.
A resident of Damaturu, Abdulmalik Audu, told PREMIUM TIMES the incident occurred behind the main Damaturu motor park where there are commercial shops and stalls.
Details of the casualties and cause of the blast could be ascertained immediately.
