The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has jammed Radio Biafra signals, Shade Yemi-Esan, permanent secretary, ministry of information, said on Tuesday. Yemi-Esan also said the commission was working with security agencies to apprehend those behind the radio, which according to her does not have operating license. “Right now the signals from radio Biafra have been jammed successfully by the NBC,” she told state house correspondents in Abuja. “The commission is also working with security agencies to get those that are behind that radio because it is an illegal radio. It is not licensed by anybody to be on the airwave in Nigeria.”
Yemi-Esan added that Buhari also directed that the issue of piracy affecting the entertainment industry be addressed in order to enhance development in the industry. “The President raised concerns about piracy in Nollywood and he has instructed us to work harder to ensure that the producers of Nollywood films get what is due to them and that we reduce piracy to the barest minimum,” she said.
