Olamide Emerges MTV Base Hottest Naija Artiste Of 2015

Talented rapper, Olamide has emerged as the MTV Base Hottest Nigeria Artist of the Year, 2015. This year has been a big year for the YBNL boss with the successive release of hit songs since the first quarter of the year. Songs like Shakiti Bobo, Melo Melo, Lagos boys have gone on to be some of the major music hit tracks of the year. This year has seen this singles top the MTV Base Official Naija Top Ten for many weeks, in addition to his successful promotion of protégé, Lil Kesh, and the recent surprise release of his fifth studio album, ‘Eyan Mayweather’ which has been topping charts. The panel on the MTV Base TV special #BaseNaijaHottestArtist named Olamide as the Hottest artiste in Nigeria for the year 2015 after two days of intense debate.

On-Air Personalities, Omalicha, Do2dtun, Sade Ladipo and Olsia Adibua were in on the panel that decided the list. Entertainment journalist Osagie Alonge, DJ Spinall and VJ Ehiz were also on the panel. While Olamide bossed the first position, Wizkid and Davido occupied the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. Newly acclaimed MTV Base hottest artiste, Olamide commented on the announcement, ‘It’s a great feeling to know that my work has made so much impact on Nigerians and i’m humbled by this announcement. Thank you MTV Base’. The show ranks the year’s ten biggest performing artists in Nigeria using a list of six criteria namely: Style, Impact, Sales/Success, Buzz, Music and Intangibles.
