South African rapper, AKA debuts new music titled, “One Time,” today April 25, 2016. “One Time” leaked online sometimes in March 2016, but AKA went back to the studio to re-sample the song for official release. Just days ago, the multi-talented rapper released “Dreamwork” featuring Yanga, the song has since been doing well and duly accepted by his fans worldwide.

Tanzanian act, Nasibu Abdul Juma, popularly known by his stage name Diamond Platnumz has been named as by MTV as the winner of the 2015 MTV EMAs Best African Act. Scores of music fans visited mtvema.com to vote for Diamond Platnumz, who beat incredible competition from AKA, Yemi Alade, Davido, and DJ Arafat. Diamond Platnumz will now go up against the winning act from India to be named Best Africa/India Act – and you can help him win. Voting is now open on mtvema.com until 24 October at 10:59pm. Diamond Platnumz follows in the footsteps of previous Best African Act winners Sauti Sol (2014), LCNVL (2013), D’Banj (2012 & 2007), Freshlyground (2006) and 2Face (2005).

The 2015 MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) have come and gone. African music’s biggest night of awards took placeon June 18), with a number of entertainers getting honoured for their contribution to music on the continent. South African rapper AKA and his longterm girlfriend DJ Zinhle have welcome their first child together. AKA, born Forbes has also revealed the name of his daughter while also confirming to the fans of his baby mama that she is doing very well. Their girl was given birth to at Sandton Medi Clinic.

AKA wrote on Instagram, “We are proud to announce the arrival of our baby girl KAIRO OWETHU FORBES 🎀 … She’s is healthy and the mother is feeling well. Thank You to all the doctors and nurses at Sandton Medi Clinic and all the friends and family for their well wishes. Blessed”

Top South African rapper AKA has come out to say he is ashamed of his South African passport. "Headed to Nigeria, Ghana and Tanzania shortly ... And for the 1st time I'll be ashamed of my South African passport" he tweeted today, April 15, 2015. AKA is likely commenting on the xenophobic attacks in South Africa. AKA came to Nigeria in February and was given a warm reception by Nigerians. He also headlined the weekly music event Industry Nite. AKA will be coming back soon to Nigeria for a concert.
