Clubs in the Nigeria professional Football League (NPFL) will be paid if they field players under the age of 18. Organisers of the NPFL, the League Management Company have decided to introduced a financial incentives for clubs that field players of 18 years and below. The LMC came to his resolution at its 2nd General Meeting (AGM) held on Friday, February 5 at the Le Meridien Ibom Golf Resort and Hotels in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Any NPFL club that list three players of 18 years and below with one of them having a playing time of up to 15 minutes will be rewarded with N100,000. When any of the three players is fielded for at least 45 minutes, the club will get double of that. This is in addition of the already stated regulation that allow each club to register five youth players in their squad in addition to the regular 35 allowed.

These players are to wear jerseys number 36-40 to clearly indicate that they are youth players. In other incentives added the LMC added that they will reward away wins in the NPFL with N500,000 while draws away from home will be rewarded with N200,000. Clubs who can attract 5000 fans of their home fans will get N250,000 while all the 20 clubs will receive a monthly stadium maintenance allowance of N200,000.
